Germany {the Mosel Valley}

On our second excursion in Germany, Aaron and I piled into the sporty silver Peugot and took off for the winding vineyard-filled roads of the Mosel Valley, one of the 13 wine regions in Germany. A bright, beautiful, crisp fall day greeted us as we followed the serpentine path of the Moselle River, stopping here, zipping through there, walking, soaking in, sampling the famous Riesling wines (ranging in taste from sweet to dry, and varying in color and acidity). From Koblenz to Cochem, this was truly a tasty trip : ) all the while, entertained endlessly by the music blasting from the stereo.

Speaking of, one of the most fascinating things about driving across Germany (other than the scenery and the reststops) is the radio. Musical entertainment for the journey consisted of an eclectic mix of 80s idol pop, German electronika and bizarre flavors of techno multilingual rap interspersed with profanity, usually not bleeped out. And this all on one station. the idea of single fm channels devoted to one music style, type or era is perhaps as bizarre a concept to the Germans as driving on the left is to Americans : ) But while zooming down the autobahn at 124 (mph not kilometers, see evidence below) and slowing to a crawl to sight see through the more scenic parts of the day, it was positively effervescent keeping the beat with Bruno mars, vogueing with Madonna and crossing borders to the funky eurometroelectonika with the occasional accordion thrown in for good measure, all in the same hour and all without touching the dial.

Hearing is believing. I'll drink to that! ; )

 And no day trip is complete without a little stop an an ancient (albeit under construction) castle!
