Corfu, Greece

panoramic view of the city from the ship

Corfu, Greece. Quiet. Colorful. A bit sleepy in the heat of the Mediterranean summer, especially on a Sunday. Definitely a look at living local. Many of the residents of this little island were running daily errands, on their way to church or enjoying a quiet breakfast. Many of the shops remained closed as it was a Sunday, but you were still able to get the essence of the place, to see the heart of the city…and to wonder what it would be like to live a life like this.

breakfast, Greek style. strong coffee and cookies.

starting the day with some great morning light, filtered through the haze and humidity!

the less touristy side of the island

quiet city square

I had fun setting this one up!

byzantine relics inside the old fort guarding the entrance to the island

hot and sweaty at the base of the old fort

inside the archeological museum which was wonderfully air conditioned! and displayed some amazing finds dating back to 5th century BC

too hot for everyone!
