Night Swimming

...swimming in the sea of people, strolling down the streets of Charleston, path lit only by the flicker of gas lamp lights and the over-bright glare from shop windows, closed to buyers but open to browsing all night long. Have you ever window shopped at night? It's a totally different experience. Displays are brightly lit, the focus is narrowed, all peripheral imagery goes away. The only thing left is you and the object of your desire - the purse, the shoes, the jacket, the mannequin. Oh wait. Not that.
